Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20th 1964) was an American politician, attorney, and the current vice president of the United States. She is both the first female vice-president as well as the highest-ranking female official in the United America. As a member of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. In 2010, Harris was elected Attorney General of California. She was re-elected in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election making her the second African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling cannabis. A path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. National attention was gained for her outspoken questioning of Trump administration officials at Senate hearings. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual abuse.
